Judo for Self Defense

Judo is a Japanese martial art and is a good self defence method. It is all about attacking and defending. It was also known as Jujutsu which means soft and gentle art. The main characteristic of judo makes it the best self defense art. This characteristic is making the attacker lose his equilibrium to defend yourself.

Judo is related to balance of the body, you can make the opponent lose his balance through different moves and take advantage of his nonresistance. All you have to do is to make the opponent weak and gain more strength than him by making him unbalance. In judo you have to maintain your balance and control your opponent’s balance.

Judo is related to the ability of using your balance accurately and instantly. Timing and distance is also very important in judo. Opponents are usually quite trained and skilled so timing and quickness is the key to success in judo. You have to use different techniques in judo like; kicking, hitting, throwing, choking, and bending and twisting.

People usually don’t use proper techniques of judo. When they are using the throwing technique, they fail to complete it and so they often lose the battle. You have to practice judo to build proper speed, stamina and strength to beat the attacker and defend yourself. In judo grounding and standing are the different techniques and styles of attacking. Choking and throwing in judo are related to defending yourself.

Judo is a form of martial arts and you can get the training from reputable martial arts training schools. It is a good sport that takes care of mental and physical fitness and it is also a good self defense art.
